Love and Respect to all Beings. As I sit here in Coban, Guatemala, I
feel I should speak about the situation here in Central America. Like
much of the world, the people here have very little access to medical
services. I have encountered a number of people who have lost wives or
children due to poor medical services, or who cannot get the care they
need for very curable problems such as parasites, where antibiotics and
a bit of education would do the trick. This is a very sad problem.
Private services are way beyond the reach of many people here, and
public services are truly lacking.
But in the last few days, I had the pleasure to serve as part
of a medical mission, delivering free supplies and setting up a free
clinic in a small village in the highlands. It was a great
experience. It really felt so good giving the medicines and therapy
that would help these people to be healthy. In our world of affluence,
there really should be a high level of medical care, for all people.
This care should extend to caring for their water systems and their
environments, as well as their physical health. Though I don´t think
any of the crooked governments or profiteering corporations that make
up our current power structure are inclined to do this, private groups,
NGOs, nonprofits, and tribes of cool hepcats can do so very much with a
relatively small amount of money.
So one experience can shape a path for a lifetime, and I am
strongly considering going into traditional medicine and gathering a
team of healers and sustainable developers to do just this sort of
work. We can travel together and purchase all the necessary supplies
to make these clinics possible. We can help people in need, and help
the people who are doing the helping, who could certainly use some
cheap medical services. We can also set up for profit corporations who
make tax deductable donations to our non-profit group that funds the
charity work.
This dream includes a medical center in the west coast, which
is for profit but reasonably priced, and includes scholarships to med
schools for potential future generations, and some free care for those
who cant affort it. It also includes a caravan of vehicles who do
mobile nomad style medical clinics, and a fleet of ships who do the
same all over the world. The caravan and fleet are also designed to
trade goods and services, to make money for our project. They pick up
items in the third world and sell them fair trade style in the US.
So
what I would like to do is start a website and an organization. But I
have no idea how to do this. If anyone knows web design and whatnot,
I´d be willing to pay for the website and put lots of work into getting
it organized. It can have information about health, self-healthcare,
news, etc, and eventually be the electronic hub of all that we
co-create. Anyways all this is just future stuff, and I have to
concentrate on massage school, but I think the universe is going to
help us with this dream and I am very excited to be a part of it.
Guatemala is beautiful, and I am headed to the rainbow
gathering. I wish that all of my relations could experience this too,
but I honor all of your personal experiences and hope for you all to
feel love and health and happiness and breath and groundation.
Much Love,
Alex
